Kelley McKenzie

The owner of Liv Studio, Kelley, has been a teacher of movement for 21 years. She holds an NCPT in Pilates instruction and is trained through the PhysicalMind. She is also certified in Les Mills, Body Combat, Body Pump, RPM, Core, and Sprint. Her passion of exercise science has taken her on trainings around the world with some of the best teachers in the Pilates and Group Fitness community. Pilates has given her the anatomical and biomechanical foundation that is the groundwork for all of her classes. It is that application that allows her clients to be functionally strong outside the studio, whether it be daily tasks or high level athleticism. As an avid athlete herself, she is drawn to the high energy classes of Les Mills group exercise and holds an Elite instructor certification through them. You can hear and feel her level of experience in all the classes she teaches, whether it’s Pilates, Body Combat or Body Pump. She is thrilled to be the owner of such an amazing space and is grateful for her students who bring energy and community and make the studio what it is.

Genevieve Speas-Hernandez

Genevieve found her love for health and fitness at an early age. She loves spending time outdoors and grew up spending most of her time camping with her family or playing sports, specially soccer. Following her love for the great outdoors she moved to Truckee in 2008 and graduated from UNR in 2013 with a BS in Community Health Sciences. In 2010 she took her first Les Mills BodyCombat class and knew she wanted to continue exploring her passion in health and fitness. She is now a Nationally Certified Pilates Trainer, an ACE Group Fitness Instructor, and is certified in Les Mills BodyPump, BodyCombat, RPM, SPRINT, CORE, The Trip and Grit. She believes that “your mind is your strongest muscle, but your secret weapon is your heart”. In every class you can feel her positive motivating energy as she encourages you to always believe in your strongest self.

Megan Williams

megan headshotMegan is a AFAA/NASM Certified Group Fitness Instructor and is certified to teach Les Mills Body Combat, Pump, Body Flow and RPM. Megan first fell in love with Body Combat over 10 years ago, and her passion for fitness has only grown since then. Great music, movement, positive energy, and lots of laughter. What more could anyone ask for?! Megan’s fitness philosophy centers on the notion that physical fitness promotes emotional and mental well-being, and vice versa. Megan has her PhD in marine science, and when she’s not working as a conservation biologist or fitness instructor, Megan loves to explore the ocean, mountains, lakes, and trails with her family!

Michelle Farrell

Michelle’s love of staying active stemmed from childhood. Growing up in the Reno/Tahoe area, she enjoyed all that it had to offer! But it wasn’t until the birth of her first daughter in 2008 that she caught the group fitness bug. Searching for a way to get back in shape, she found Zumba. The transition from student to instructor came without any hesitation. Her passion to help others in their fitness journey, sparked her enthusiasm to continue her education and training in other programs, as well. Over the years, she has acquired certifications to teach Barre Above, BOSU, LES MILLS Shbam, and also became an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor. She is always looking to learn something new, and expand her ability to teach and grow. It’s all about the journey!

Gina Updegraff

Gina found her passion for health and fitness at an early age. She competed in collegiate volleyball at the University of San Diego, obtained her American Council on Exercise Group Fitness Certification in 1991 and has taught a variety of group fitness classes ever since! Her career as a firefighter was the perfect complement to her love of all things fitness since strength and cardiovascular fitness were a necessary part of the job. Now that she is retired from her career as a firefighter, she plans to delve even deeper into the fitness industry by working towards her Pilates Method Association Certification. Gina is a Certified Personal Trainer and a Les Mills BodyPump instructor. She is also passionate about spending time with family and friends, hiking, mountain biking and snowshoeing. Gina and her husband, Mike, moved to Truckee full-time in 2018 and she is thrilled to be joining the community at LIV!

Flannery Lawrence

Flannery Lawrence is a NASM CPT and group fitness instructor. Originally from the Washington, DC area, she got into health and fitness as a lacrosse player. After organized sports ended, a friend introduced her to a small spin studio in her hometown and a love of both spin and group fitness was sparked. A year later she started studying for her certification and learning more about strength training. Now, in both group fitness classes and 1 on 1 personal training Flannery combines cardio, body weight exercises, and strength training to build muscle and confidence!

Ingrid Stutzman

Ingrid’s love for fitness started at an early age as a gymnast. Her gymnastic career sparked an interest in many other activities over the years, including skiing, dance, yoga and SUP. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from Drexel University in 2001, Ingrid attained professional personal fitness certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, and TRX. She studied under Elizabetth Larkam at the San Francisco Bay Club and also became certified in Pilates Mat, and Reformer. Ingrid’s passion for health and fitness has made her committed to helping people live a more enriched life. Her emphasis is on stretching with strength and control, muscle sculpting, injury prevention, and whole body movement. As a mom of two, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and hiking with her dogs.

Leigh Collins

Leigh has had the privilege of growing up in our beautiful Truckee community. After graduating Truckee high school she moved to New York City to study ballet with the Joffery Ballet School. After 4 years of studying and touring the east coast and Europe, Leigh started her professional career with Nevada ballet in Las Vegas. While she was dancing with Nevada Ballet she was introduced to the Pilates technique and found her passion for pilates. Pilates brought a newfound body awareness and control that completely changed her body and helped gain a deeper connection to her dancing. Leigh completed her Pilates certification in 2016 and has been teaching ever since. Leigh loves being in the outdoors, skiing, hiking, camping, dancing, her dog bowie, and this amazing Liv community!

Veronica Watson

Veronica grew up in Crescent City CA, a small beach town surrounded by the redwoods. She enjoys reading, cooking, painting, music and yoga. She attended Chico State University and received a BS in Business; with an emphasis in Human Resources. After college, she worked for Specialized Bicycles where she fell in love with mountain biking and fitness. She and her husband moved to Truckee in 2015 so they could raise their kids in the mountains. Here is where she first discovered Les Mills, and after attending her first Body Combat class she has never looked back. LIV Studio has been a place where she could relieve stress and challenge herself mentally and physically. She is excited about her fitness and teaching journey, and is learning all she can along the way. In just a little over 1 year, she received her ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification, Les Mills Body Combat Certification, and Les Mills Core Certification. Veronica is passionate about health and wellness and believes strongly in continuous growth and development. She hopes to encourage others to hold space for themselves and do what they love.

Sarah Westmoreland

Sarah has always lived and active lifestyle for as long as she can remember. Growing up in Truckee has created a deep love for the outdoors and all the beauty it has to offer. It wasn’t until 3 years ago when she got in a severe head on car accident that was introduced to Pilates in her recovery. Being in and out of a wheelchair for two years she found it was the only way she could consistently move her body. Getting on the reformer five days a week she found an unfathomable appreciation for the practice and knows a lot out modifying! She is excited about becoming a teacher and sharing her excitement for the practice!

April Cole

In 2014, after a medical scare, doctors suggested to April that she either start taking meds which would likely then be needed for the rest of her life, or try cardio exercise first to see if that would help. Being the kid that begged her mom to write a note to school every Friday so she wouldn’t have to run in PE, the idea of required cardio was almost as bad as the idea of daily heart meds, but she gave exercise a shot. The physical and mental improvement was almost immediate and was vast. To say exercise changed her life, is not an understatement. With a new appreciation for health through movement, April fell in love with the community, fun and accountability in Les Mills group fitness classes. Looking to support others in their journey to health through movement, April became a certified ACE Group Fitness instructor and most recently became a certified Les Mills RPM instructor. Outside of the gym, April is an entrepreneur, having opened her own coaching company specializing in Life, Business and Travel Coaching. She is an active member in the Truckee community, currently serving as the President of the Rotary Club of Truckee. In her free time, she and her family love to adventure to new places, exploring culture, food and beautiful landscapes.

Marissa Mignone

Marissa Mignone has been serving families as a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator and Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga Instructor in the Tahoe/Truckee region since 2012. She is a trained Birthing From Within Educator and her abilities to hold space for parents allows an experience to blossom as they move through the new and sometimes unexpected nature of the pregnancy and birthing process. Marissa acts as a compassionate and judgment-free support system here to share in the experience with you and elevate your awareness of what is possible. Marissa’s approach to being a Yoga Instructor and Doula is to love and support people unconditionally and to empower them with information, practices, and processes. She believes if birthing people received the care and support they deserve, the world would be a happier, healthier place.
